Patients with a history of hypersensitivity to macrolide antibiotics.
Do not use roxithromycin concurrently with ergotamine-containing vasoconstrictors.
Do not use roxithromycin and other macrolides for patients taking terfenadine or astemisol because of the risk of life-threatening arrhythmia.
Contraindicated macrolide combination with cisapride, due to the risk of severe arrhythmia.
Take special care with roxithromycin for severe hepatic impairment.
Use only for pregnant women when needed, although there is no document that says roxithromycin causes birth defects.
Roxithromycin excreted in milk with very low concentration.
Co-administration of roxithromycin with one of the following drugs: astemisol, terfenadine, cisapride has the potential for serious cardiac dysrhythmias. Therefore, these drugs can not be combined for treatment.
There is no significant interaction with warfarin, carbamazepine, ciclosporin and oral contraceptives.
Moderate increase in theophylline or plasma concentrations of ciclosporin, but no change in the usual dose is required.
May increase unopyrolide concentration in serum.
Do not co-ordinate with bromocriptin because roxithromycin increases the concentration of this drug in plasma.
